When I had to replace my gas cap on my 2004 Chevy Colorado (yes, the check engine light went on, and the factory cap was wobbly), this popped up as the recommended replacement cap. The bottom looks a little different from the OEM part, but it fits and locks in place securely. My only complaint is that there is nowhere to secure the plastic strap that connected the OEM gas cap to the fuel door (to keep the gas cap attached to the car). Other than that, however, great product.

When my check engine light came on in my chevy truck, my friend advised me to try a new fuel cap before going to the dealer. So I bought this inexpensive gas cap....and the light went out. My experience with car dealer service is that nothing is ever that simple, or cheap.

My factory cap is under a recall. I've replaced it twice. First time was at 4000 miles. In a word the factory cap is junk. Buy this one and be over it. This cap will fit next to the filler neck when filling with gas. Stant 10841 is the proper cap for the 2005 GTO. Application guide will say different.

Well, it's a gas cap. I would say it keeps gas from spilling out of the tank, but there's already a valve that keeps that from happening. Again, it's a GAS CAP. It screws on comfortably and is easy to screw off (hehe...I put 'screw off' in this). I would've given it four stars, but that fifth star is earned when it screws itself on and off and puts gas in the car for me.

For over a year I was dealing with "Check Engine" lights having to do with a large emission leak. I originally changed the gas cap with the Volvo OEM cap at twice the price thinking this would solve the trick. Nope.
After a year and a half of erasing engine codes with my reader from a gas cap that could not create a good seal I decided to try this Stant cap. It has worked so well over the past few months that I bought an extra because I am concerned about losing it (there is no leash like on the OEM cap.
A great buy that solved my "Check Engine" light problem. I'm a happy camper :)

I purchased my first replacement fuel cap from a local auto store who promised it was the right one. The dealer wanted about a 100 bucks for a new original one. I found out 30 odd days later my bargain nine dollar fuel cap was not oxygenated i.e. a requirement for a Volvo. I did some online research (something i should have done in the first place) and found the Stant fuel cap was a legitimate replacement. So I bought the Stant oxygenated fuel cap, and my fuel light no longer comes on. I checked my fuel system out at the dealer and no problems. The Stant was significantly cheaper than the dealer cap and to my surprise cheaper than the bargain fuel cap. I have had NO PROBLEMS with my fuel light coming on and it's been over 60 days. The only thing is I wish the Stant came with is the attachment chain to the car. Other than that, I think I made a good deal. Another thing, none of the car auto shops (including all the big names) carry this particular fuel cap. I called them all and they would of had to special order it, which would have meant a special price too.

I purchased this as an alternative to a locking fuel door. This fit perfectly & easily onto a 2008 Mustang GT. Verify it works with your car before purchasing. Extremely easy to put on once it arrived. Shipping was quick by amazon as always. Item includes 2 keys labeled "FUEL", so it's nice they give you a spare. My car had a plastic ring that was on my normal gas cap that you just slip off & slip on this one.

This cap works as advertised. Would recommend this product to all who need a locking gas cap for a FORD. Easy to install, only need a screw driver. Remove ring on old cap and new cap, install new cap and snap ring back on. It is just that simple.

I was very glad to get this locking cap at the price (much cheaper than local stores). It is a little difficult to operate; you have to remember to hold the key in position while turning the cap handle, or else it doesn't come unlocked. Since I have several keys and tags on my key fob, along with the vehicle door unlocking device, there is limited space in the gas door area to do this. In order to protect the expensive gasoline in the tank, however, it is worth the trouble.

I've had no functionality problems with this gas cap. However, they aren't made well enough to fall from the top of a gas pump station. I'm on my second one, because when it fell, the handle broke in half. No handle, no good. So be careful not to drop it, especially in cold weather. I rate this three stars because it's not durable. It's made of a cheap plastic. You don't expect a gas cap to break, even when it's dropped. If you can find one made of metal, it would be worth the extra money.

With a tankful of gas costing upwards of $60 (or $100-$200 if you have a big motorcoach etc), this gas cap pays for itself if it prevents one thief from stealing gas from you. From a mischievious standpoint it also protects your vehicle from someone putting something nasty in your gas tank.
I found this product to be a perfect almost OEM replacement item. I found that I could reuse the plastic ring that kept my original gas cap tethered to my car - so the product looks like something straight out of the factory.
It comes with two keys, which I just attached to each of my key rings.
Overall, a great product, a simple invesment.
On Amazon, I really enjoyed the make/model/year product finder that guided me to the right part - very helpful (thanks Amazon).
Overall I can't say enough great things about this little product. I highly recommend it.

I wish they had identified the top or bottom of the key slot or they could have used a double sided key, since the key isn't guided into the lock very well it's always a bit of a pain to figure out which end is up.
Another thing that would help, would be some kind of retainer, even if it didn't exactly match the original, at least some kind of lanyard attachment so I didn't have to worry about losing my new gas cap.
At least the fit and function are close to the original cap, just slightly loose.

Cheap, lock/tumbler is low quality and proves to be difficult at times to unlock with out two hands (tricky when theres some depth to the gas cap from the body like on a truck). Even though it seemed ready to snap apart at any time or the key break off inside, this cap held up for over 2 years before i opted to go back to the OEM cap. Never any problems with it sealing either which surprised me.

I have 3 of these and highly recommend them as a "deterrant". Yes, if someone is determined it can be broken off or they can stab the tank, but quick gas theft can be avoided if they can find a car with a non-locking gas cap (put a small sticker on your gas panel that states locking gas cap and the door may not be pried open, it may be passed up). Avoid pranks, vandalism, and gas theft with these. They are a little hard to figure out initially but simple after that. I have never had a dash light come on from these for leaking, on '09 Tacoma, '08 IS250, or '04 RX-330 (different type/model number). Excellent value.
